How to Search Attala Court Dockets
Start by deciding which court holds the Attala County record you want. Major trial work sits with the Attala Circuit Clerk. An indictment or a Circuit civil case goes through the Fifth Circuit MEC system. Divorce, estates, guardianships, adoptions, and equity disputes run through the Chancery Clerk. That clerk works on the separate Sixth Chancery MEC. Justice Court covers lower civil matters, traffic, DUI, misdemeanors, ordinance violations, and felony initial appearances. A citation issued inside Kosciusko city limits belongs to Municipal Court instead.
Youth Court files stay restricted. Federal cases live in PACER rather than the state system. PAMEC is the paid subscription layer. It opens eligible Circuit and Chancery docket sheets and documents to the public. It is not a free county-wide name search. Search by court and case number first, then narrow by party if the authorized interface allows it. When remote access fails or a result is blocked, ask the court clerk to confirm where the case sits. The clerk can also provide the public docket sheet.
- Read the summons, ticket, bond, notice, or prior record for the court name and case number.
- Choose Fifth Circuit MEC/PAMEC for Circuit cases or Sixth Chancery MEC/PAMEC for Chancery cases.
- Use the Justice Court office for county traffic, DUI, misdemeanor, ordinance, and lower-court civil matters.
- Use Kosciusko Municipal Court for a city-limit citation or municipal case.
- Read the docket event date, setting, and linked order before drawing a conclusion from a status line.
Attala Court Docket Routing
Attala County has no single clerk and no combined free docket portal. That split shapes every local search. Fifth Circuit MEC handles Circuit Court's electronic cases. Sixth Chancery MEC runs the separate Chancery system. Justice Court and Kosciusko Municipal Court operate as their own local channels. A county traffic ticket will never surface in a Circuit MEC search just because it arose in Attala. Likewise, a Chancery deed or lien may be a recorder record rather than a docket event at all. Picking the right court up front saves paid PAMEC searches and keeps requests from landing at the wrong counter.
| Court | Docket covers | Search or view route |
|---|---|---|
| Attala Circuit Court | Felony prosecutions and Circuit civil cases | Fifth Circuit MEC/PAMEC or Circuit Clerk |
| Attala Chancery Court | Domestic, estate, guardianship, land, and equity cases | Sixth Chancery MEC/PAMEC or Chancery Clerk |
| Attala Justice Court | Traffic, DUI, misdemeanor, ordinance, civil, and initial appearances | Justice Court Clerk; nCourt is a payment channel |
| Kosciusko Municipal Court | City-limit traffic and municipal matters | Municipal clerk and ticket or bond |
| Youth Court | Juvenile matters | Restricted court process |
The county court directory is the starting source for the local court split and office routing.
What Attala Docket Sheets Show
MEC labels its central case index a docket sheet. To read one for Attala County, work through it in this order: court and division, case number, filing date, case style, party roles, attorneys, claim or charge, current status, event timeline, linked documents, settings, flags, disposition, and closure. A filed notice, motion, or order carries different weight than a short status line. Keep one rule in mind. The docket only records that an event happened. The full ruling lives in the linked court document, whenever access to it is permitted.
| Court and division | Confirms which Attala docket system holds the matter. |
|---|---|
| Case number and date | Provides the strongest search anchors for a known case. |
| Case style and roles | Identifies the case participants and their procedural roles. |
| Event timeline | Lists dated filings, notices, motions, settings, and other events. |
| Settings | Shows a hearing or court event that should be confirmed by the newest notice or order. |
| Flags and disposition | Provides workflow and access clues, not an independent explanation of the outcome. |
Attala PAMEC Search Costs
Remote public access to eligible Attala Circuit and Chancery cases requires a PAMEC account. Official registration offers Attorney, Non-Attorney, and Firm Administrator types. A non-attorney account carries a $10 annual registration fee. Paying online by debit, credit, or e-check normally clears the same day. A mailed paper check delays access. Once inside, the non-attorney terms charge $0.20 for each page a search returns. A no-match search is billed as one page. A page you view, print, or download still carries that charge.
Use the case number whenever you have it and skip broad speculative name searches. The public registration form shows the account fields. The exact case-search filters only appear after login, so do not count on a name, date, or case-type filter until you see the authorized interface. The clerk counter remains the fallback for free electronic viewing during business hours.
Attala Docket Search Limits
A public Attala County docket search has real limits. PAMEC credentials gate remote Circuit and Chancery access. Even a returned docket may hold back some documents. MEC marks restrictions for sealed material and for papers limited to attorneys of record. Youth Court is confidential juvenile territory. A blank or blocked result can simply mean the case sits in Justice Court, Kosciusko Municipal Court, federal Greenville, a legacy file, or another court. It does not mean no case exists.
When a permission message appears, stop there. Ask the clerk whether a non-restricted docket sheet or a public copy is available. After a no-match search, recheck the court and case number before paying for another PAMEC query. The service exists to locate and understand an official case. It is not a tool for gathering unrelated personal history.
Which Attala Courts Keep Dockets
Attala Circuit Court sits in the Fifth Circuit Court District. Its Circuit Clerk receives and files Circuit civil and criminal pleadings, indictments, motions, judgments, executions, and process. The Sixth Chancery District keeps a separate docket for domestic cases, estates, guardianships, conservatorships, land, and equity. Attala County has no County Court of its own. So when a request names a generic county-court case, confirm the actual court. Do not assume a third trial-court docket exists.
Justice Court also handles felony initial appearances. That early stage should not be confused with a later Circuit prosecution. Kosciusko Municipal Court holds its own city-limit jurisdiction. Youth Court sits under the Chancery District. It stays a confidential juvenile channel, not a normal public lookup. A federal complaint or federal prosecution must be searched in the Northern District of Mississippi, Greenville Division, through federal resources.

Attala's Two MEC Gateways
Attala's electronic court records arrived in two steps, not one. Sixth Chancery MEC shows a local go-live date of March 27, 2017. Fifth Circuit MEC shows November 21, 2019 for Attala Circuit. Both gateways run Mississippi Electronic Courts CM/ECF V4.0. They still serve separate court systems. Each has its own clerk. That split explains why some records stay out of one electronic docket search. Older paper files, Justice Court matters, and municipal tickets do not all surface there.
The state's administrative procedures offer remote PAMEC access. They also give free electronic viewing at the clerk's office during business hours. None of that makes every filing public. An attorney-of-record restriction, a sealed file, or protected juvenile material can block a document. The docket header may sit in plain view the whole time. Treat MEC as a court-specific route, not a full record of every Attala legal matter.
Sixth Chancery MEC information documents the other Attala electronic docket gateway.
Finding Attala Court Dates
A court term is a frame, not a setting for your case. The Secretary of State judicial directory and calendar publishes the statewide directory. It also carries Circuit and Chancery term material. It maps Fifth Circuit's schedule structure well. For an actual Attala hearing date, though, the newest docket entry, notice, or order beats it. In Circuit and Chancery cases, sign in to the right MEC docket. Check the latest setting and its linked notice. Call the clerk if the date is urgent or unclear.
Justice Court runs jail sessions three times each week for initial appearances. That is a local practice, not a public calendar for every case. Kosciusko Municipal Court sets hearings on Tuesdays. The ticket or bond states the exact date and time. Trust the ticket first, the latest notice second, and the clerk's word last. A continuance means the date moved. It does not mean the case is over.
The state calendar source supplies court-term context, while the local docket supplies a specific case setting.
Attala Justice Court Traffic Route
Attala Justice Court handles the county's main traffic route. That covers Highway Patrol and Attala County Sheriff tickets, all DUIs, county ordinance violations, public-service and recreational citations, lower-court civil matters, and felony initial appearances. The office sits at 254 Highway 12 West in Kosciusko. Staff there can confirm venue, date, amount, and payment eligibility. Its official nCourt page covers payment logistics and a pay-by-phone option. It does not offer a full docket viewer. Paying a ticket is not the same as a certified disposition.
A citation written inside Kosciusko city limits may belong to Municipal Court instead. Ethel runs no town court, per its FY2025 State Auditor report. So Ethel cases go to Justice Court. Sallis and McCool court arrangements are less clear. Read the court named on the ticket. Call that clerk, rather than assuming the county payment channel covers every town.
Public Access to Attala Dockets
Attala docket access rests on two layers. One is the Mississippi Public Records Act. The other is court-specific access rules. The statute favors inspection of public records unless an exemption applies. MEC procedures govern remote subscriber access, local electronic viewing, copying, and court record limits. Remote Circuit and Chancery searches carry PAMEC's $0.20 page charge. Anyone without remote access can ask the right clerk about electronic viewing during business hours. Justice and municipal cases run through separate clerk channels.
Key rules:
Miss. Code §§25-61-1 and 25-61-2 state the public-record access policy, subject to exceptions.
Miss. Code §25-61-7 permits actual search, review, duplication, and mailing costs.
Miss. Code §§25-61-11 through 25-61-13 preserve exemptions and set out dispute procedures.
MEC administrative procedures control the electronic court-access layer.
Reading Attala MEC Docket Flags
MEC flag labels add context, not final answers. In Fifth Circuit, labels such as arraignment pending, capias pending, bench warrant, plea pending, trial pending, probation, sealed, closed, appeal, and stayed mark steps, restrictions, or workflow. Sixth Chancery flags include accounting filed or order due, guardian or conservator plan, GAL, minor child or ward, DHS, mediation, ex parte, pending fee, trust, and sealed. A label alone is never a disposition. Match it with the dated event. Match it with the linked order too. Only then draw any conclusion about where the case stands.
- Sealed
- Restricted access may leave only a limited header or no public document.
- Stayed
- Proceedings or enforcement are paused, not necessarily dismissed.
- Trial pending
- A trial remains in the workflow and should be confirmed through the latest setting.
- GAL
- Guardian ad litem is a Chancery workflow term that can accompany protected-person material.
- Closed
- Closure status should be read with the final disposition or order.
Note: CourtInfo publishes many labels without expanding every local abbreviation, so confirm an unexplained code with the clerk.
Attala Clerks and Docket Records
Split custody is the key local records fact. Tim Pinkard's Circuit Clerk office holds Circuit civil and criminal filings. It sits at 100 Courthouse, Suite 1 in Kosciusko. Taylor Casey's Chancery Clerk office keeps Sixth Chancery material, recorder documents, and county board records. It sits at 230 West Washington Street in Kosciusko. The Justice Court Clerk sits at 254 Highway 12 West. Kosciusko Municipal Court sits at 220 West Washington Street. Send a request to the court that actually holds the case. Skip the general county contact.

Attala Docket History and Archives
Attala County formed in 1833. Its older records do not simply roll into modern MEC. The Mississippi Department of Archives and History holds Attala series from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. For a historical case, ask the clerk first whether the file remains local. Was a docket digitized? Is archival custody more likely? A modern electronic docket is a fine starting point. It cannot replace a county or state archive search.
The Mississippi Supreme Court annual-report archive documents court administration statewide. It offers useful context on Mississippi's court system. But its reports contain no clean Attala annual docket totals. That gap matters. A county guide should never stretch statewide statistics or citation abstracts into a local filing count. It should not claim to know how cases ended.
The annual-report archive is a state context source, not an Attala case-search portal.
Attala County Court Dockets by City
The 2020 Census incorporated-place table lists four places in Attala County. They are Kosciusko, Ethel, Sallis, and McCool. Each city page below takes the local route that actually works. Kosciusko stands out. Its municipal court is the only one in the county with a clear public web presence. The Kosciusko court docket is the best starting point for city-level case lookup. Ethel takes a different path. The town's FY2025 audit states it runs no court of its own. It sends cases to Justice Court instead. Sallis and McCool post no separate municipal docket. Their city pages point to county-level court records rather than an online database that does not exist.
Kosciusko Court Docket
7,114 in the 2020 Census. Municipal Court handles documented city-limit matters.
Ethel Court Docket
348 in the 2020 Census. Official audit states cases go to Justice Court.
Sallis Court Docket

McCool Court Docket
103 in the 2020 Census. No public municipal docket was confirmed.
The Census incorporated-place table establishes the four-city scope for Attala County docket routing.
